It was great to be back on the water (post covid), the contestants were ready to go and so were the fish. With the exception of the wind, the weather was perfect for a day on the water. Of the 40 registered boats, we had 33 come to the scales with 5 fish limits.

Claiming the first place finish with a weight of 17.80 lbs. were newcomers to the podium – Jeff Mason and Dustin Wallace from Arcata. Their work earned them a check for $1,000.00 along with 1st place plaques and hats.

Finishing in a close 2nd place with 17.46 lbs. were long time competitors Brian Barthman and Tom Helberg. The pair also received plaques and hats and a check for $500.00.

In 3rd place, a brand new team to the Paul Jadro Memorial Tournament weighing in at 16.45 lbs., they had the 2nd big fish of the event at 5.90 lbs. which won them $120.00 and in addition, received 3rd place plaques and hats and a check for $400.00.

The big fish of the event was caught by Trevor Scott fishing with partner Trevor Bohn, a whopping 7.36 lbs. With a total weight of 13.37 lbs., the pair finished in 6th place overall earning a total of $490.00 for their day’s work.

Rounding out the field and receiving the prestigious “Smallest Limit Award” was Tony Miles. Fishing with no partner, Tony did manage a 5 fish limit weighing in at 5.94 lbs. That’s an average of about 1.20 lbs. per fish and they all made the 13 inch cut.

On the youth angler side of the event we had very close race with only .21 lbs. separating the two. Braden Bohn fishing with Grandpa Gary Barker took the 1st place honors and received the 1st place youth angler plaque sponsored by S&H Auto Machine, along with a rod and reel from Grundman’s Sporting Goods and a tackle box courtesy of Fortuna Fire Co.4. The second place youth angler award went to Noah Jordan, fishing with Alan Bongio. Noah received a rod and reel from Sport & Cycle and a tackle box along with a plaque courtesy of Unhooked Bass.

Fortuna Fire Co. 2 would like to give a shout out to RMI outdoors for all the rods donated to our raffle as well as all of our great sponsors. We also had a couple of our contestants donate their winnings back which really shows the extraordinary support for the sport, thanks to all!
